Covering second beam with roving. Note that I measured and marked the area where the splash well will meet the transom to make sure I didn’t do any doubling in that area. Look carefully and you’ll see that, after installing the large piece of roving, I applied a second, 12” strip along the bottom and sides for extra strength. Don’t let too much resin “pool” in the splash well or you’ll end up having to grind it off to keep the bottom of the splash well level with the bottom drain hole. Remember, too, that we’ve still got a third layer of wood to go on yet. This transom is a brick wall compared to the original.
